Ragtime, the Musical, which about the struggles of the immigrant and African-American social groups in a white-dominated society in the early 20th century, will be performed at the Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts on Stow St. in Concord this month and will feature a couple of Wellesley residents and a 20-piece orchestra.
Wellesley’s Tom Richardson plays many supporting roles and features in the ensemble, and WMS 6th grader Tess Buckley (shown here) plays the Little Girl, the daughter of the immigrant Tateh, who struggles to find his feet after arriving in America. Also, Wellesley Middle School teacher Leah Fine portrays Evelyn Nesbitt.
Performance dates are April 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 8 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinees April 9 and 16. Tickets are $20 for the general public, $15 for students and seniors. More information can be found at Emerson Umbrella’s website, emersonumbrella.org.
