UPDATE: We’ve received a couple of inquiries this week about what’s going on with the tree cutting and construction at Tenacre School along Grove Street and Benvenue Street in Wellesley. Here’s what Head of School Christian Elliot had to say:
Tenacre has been working with the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, and we have been granted approval to construct a regulation size soccer field on the aqueduct land that is the trench that runs through the Tenacre property along Benvenue Street.
We have also received approval from the Wellesley Zoning Board and construction to expand our athletic field began on April 13, 2011 with completion at the end of May/beginning of June. We have built some flexibility into this schedule realizing that construction is dependent on favorable weather conditions.
Our contractor, Lussier Corporation, who has done many projects in the Wellesley area, will be working six days a week (Monday-Saturday) to complete the project in as short a time as we can. To that end, we would like to assure you that we are being sensitive to timing, traffic and noise, and we hope that all will be pleased with the end result— a beautiful new field, better traffic flow and improved landscaping that includes numerous new trees that will border the field. We believe we are improving an area that was unattractive and filled with trash, replacing it with one that will please our neighbors and the town.
We appreciate everyone’s patience, as we work to complete this project as efficiently—and with as little disruption to the neighborhood— as we can.
