Bill Shore, founder and executive director of Share Our Strength, a national nonprofit with the goal of ending childhood hunger in America, will be the commencement speaker at Massachusetts Bay Community College’s (MassBay) May 26th Commencement in Wellesley.
Shore founded Share Our Strength in 1984 in response to the Ethiopian famine and subsequently renewed concern about hunger in the United States. The organization has raised $275 million and supported more than 1,000 groups around the world working to end childhood hunger. Shore’s most recent book, The Imaginations of Unreasonable Men, was published in November.
At the MassBay graduation ceremony, 622 Associates Degrees in Arts and in Science and Certificates will be awarded.
The community is invited to join with family, friends and alumni to celebrate the 48th annual commencement at 7 p.m. at the Wellesley Hills campus of MassBay, 50 Oakland St., Wellesley Hills.
Social entrepreneurs are all the rage at local commencements this spring: Babson has one speaking, too.
