And we thought The Swellesley Report had a narrow focus. A website called New Streetlights writes about….new streetlights. They highlight “the city of Wellesley” for its installation of more than 500 post-top LED streetlights.
From the site:
“Based on the success of Wellesley’s first installation, city officials chose to pursue a second phase retrofit of an additional 400 decorative streetlights. The existing 175 watt metal halide lamps are being replaced with 40 watt equivalent LED luminaires. ‘Since the project was completed last year, we have seen a tremendous reduction in energy consumption. We have also seen significant savings in maintenance costs because our crews are not constantly out in the field re-lamping streetlights,’ said Donald Newell, superintendent for the Wellesley MLP.”
