Wellesley’s Rama K. Ramaswamy has published a book of poetry called “Coming Full Circle” via Xlibris under the name RKR. You can read excerpts here.
A friend of Ramaswamy’s writes: “She’s a mompreneur who paints, writes, gardens and teaches young adults, and is a scientist by training. RKR has lived in Wellesley for a number of years and combines her abiding interests in science with her love for literature and fine arts to showcase in her work her sincere concerns for the world around her. She digs deep into the plethora of life experiences, colored by her widespread travels and philosophical perspectives, and comes up with a fresh, original and arresting take on life in and around our New England town. She has inscribed her boundless generosity and cheerfulness on the vignettes of quotidian life in her poems. The collection reflects her powerful quest to find the best in life and share it with her readers.”
Ramaswamy says she had wanted to publish something for a long time, but got detoured by a career as a geologist researching acid mine drainage. But she won a poetry slam and was encouraged to publish some old and new writings in the book. The author is shooting to do a book signing locally this fall.
Alas, no poems about Wellesley in this edition. But there’s always a chance for a sequel…
