Road work ahead for lower Washington Street in Wellesley

National Development, which oversees the 27 Washington St., project that includes the rapidly rising Waterstone at Wellesley senior living facility and another building for retail/business, has given neighbors a heads up that there will be a little more jackhammering and construction worker yap to look forward to in coming months as road improvements to Washington St., get underway. Some work will take place at night to avoid mucking up traffic during peak hours, and all road work is slated to finish by Dec. 1.

Improvements on tap include installation of a traffic signal at Glen/Washington, sidewalk improvements in front of Peter’s Pizza, relocation of a traffic signal from near St. John’s to the Papa Razzi crosswalk, widening of the road in front of the new development, and a repaving of the road from Glen Road east to the Charles River bridge. The nice smooth new paving should make it even more tempting for out-of-town drivers to zip down the hill and into the hands of awaiting Wellesley police officers.
