Several events will be held this week to kick off the Wellesley Reads Together initiative of the Wellesley Free Library! Wellesley Reads Together is a town-wide program which invites participants of all ages to read the same books and then take part in related community events. The first two books in the program are:
– The Good Garden: How One Family Went from Hunger to Having Enough, by Katie Smith Milway, and
– Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life, by Barbara Kingsolver, Steven Hopp, and Camille Kingsolver
Wellesley Reads Together is also part of the larger Wellesley Celebrates Education initiative, a year-long series of education focused events culminating in the opening of the new Wellesley High School in February 2012.
Some of the events to be held in the next week include:
October 1 – Author visit with Kate Smith Milway at the Main Library
October 3 – Book discussion: Animal, Vegetable Miracle at the Main Library
October 6 – Harvest Dinner at the Wellesley College Club — A Family style dinner with appetizers on the outdoor terrace. The menu will feature ingredients from local sources including Land’s Sake Farm, Volante Farms, Allandale Farms, Bully Boy Distillers, Mayflower Beer, and more!
