Needham High School’s football team clinched a playoff berth by downing Wellesley High 42-18 on Thanksgiving Day. Wellesley fans might have wished they’d celebrated a little more when they had they chance, as the Raiders went up 6-0 on a touchdown before things went downhill. The game drew a big crowd of alumni visiting town for a series of events honoring the old WHS building.
Separately, senior girls from both high schools played the day before in a flag football game, and Needham took the victory in that game as well, by a 27-15 score. Wellesley police trained and coached the Wellesley girls. (More photos here).
