Hudson, the interior design business run by Wellesley High School grad Jill Goldberg, is shutting down its Wellesley Square store at 61A Central St., on Jan. 21. Hudson opened its Wellesley store in 2008, filling a space that had been occupied by Ponds Camera Shop for 30 years.
According to Goldberg, “Due to our recently expanded Boston store, and our rapidly growing interior design business, I have decided that Hudson will serve you better as a single location.” She notes on Hudson’s Facebook page that employs Christine and Elizabeth will be making the move to Boston.
Hudson is the latest business to ditch Wellesley Square, which every time it adds a business or two, seems to lose another. In a rare example of a bank branch leaving Wellesley, Citizens Bank (shown below) also just vacated its space at 75 Central St. But opening soon will be Gustare Oils & Vinegars, Boloco and MiniLuxe, and in the meantime, art is being displayed in downtown windows of otherwise empty storefronts.
