I recall last spring looking for evidence of Boston Bruins backers in Wellesley — banners flying from houses, retailers exploiting the Bruins’ success in their store windows, people walking around with black and gold face paint — and didn’t find a whole heck of a lot. But things changed after the Bruins won the Stanley Cup (and even brought it to Wellesley). Bruins stuff started showing up in more store windows, such as those of Wellesley Toy Shop, which has been selling Bruins this and that like wild.
But now you know the town is really gaga over the Bruins, who are on the hottest of hot streaks, when a Wellesley art gallery has a painting of the famed 1970 flying Bobby Orr goal in its front window on Washington Street.
