A new Massachusetts Department of Health study confirms what many in the Wellesley/Weston area have suspected — there’s a higher rate of Type 1 diabetes cases here than elsewhere in the state. Other findings include that there’s a higher than unusual number of cases of relatives having the disease. The state says it has ruled out drinking water as a cause of Type 1 diabetes in Wellesley and Weston, but that other environmental issues could be a factor. A further study will zero in on that.
