Eliane Markoff, a Wellesley resident who founded a program to raise pediatric cancer research funds through the sale of art to businesses, is being honored with the nonprofit Wellesley Cancer Prevention Project’s annual award on March 20. WCPP says the award “recognizes someone in our community whose diligence, philanthropy, and passion has helped raise awareness of the relationship between environmental issues and the incidence of cancer to reduce health risk factors and improve family health and well being for the citizens of Wellesley and surrounding communities.”
Markoff and other artists affiliated with the Art in Giving program donate half of the proceeds of their art sold through the program to pediatric cancer research as well as for patient support through the Rachel Molly Markoff Foundation, which was established in 1999 by Eliane and her husband in memory of their daughter.
