Wellesleyites avoid polls in droves, Romney easily tops Republicans

Wellesley voters stayed home from the polls in a big way Tuesday, with less than 10% of registered voters showing up at the polls. In the main race, for the Republican Presidential Primary, Mitt Romney received 1,974 votes to lead the way, in preliminary results.  Ron Paul (166), Rick Santorum (151), Newt Gingrich (50), John Huntsman (23) , Michelle Bachmann (1), Rick Perry (1) followed.  Barack Obama received 788 votes in the uncontested Democratic Primary.

Theodore Gross and Deborah Goldberg topped voting for State Committee man and woman, respectively.  Expect to see final results on the town website at some point Wednesday.
