Wellesley Free Library and Wellesley Books this month will highlight adult and children’s books (both fiction and non-fiction) related to assisted family building during National Infertility Awareness Week (April 22-28).
Amy Demma, a Wellesley resident who practices reproductive law, called our attention to this, as she is president to the board of directors of RESOLVE New England, a non-profit that advocates and offers services for those facing infertility.
Asked about her group’s hot buttons, Demma replied: “The hot button issue RNE continues to focus on in the New England area is being certain that our legislators mandate (as is the case in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, but not so in other New England states) that infertility be recognized as a disease and that insurance coverage for infertility treatment be mandated, as well. While the RNE mission includes offering both support and educational events to those hoping for a baby, we remain committed, as we have since 1974, to securing and protecting mandated insurance for those we serve.”
