The MLP is in the process of evaluating the installation of a town-wide distributed antenna system (DAS) to improve cellular telephone communications throughout Wellesley. The antennas are placed inside a canister that is about the same circumference and color as the top of the utility pole. The primary benefit of the DAS network is that it provides cellular telephone coverage without the need to install large cell towers. Eight such antennas already exist on poles in various sections of town and so we are now considering adding others if demand warrants.
The MLP welcomes feedback from all town residents and businesses. As a first step, we have scheduled two public meetings in the Arnold Room of the Main Library. The first will begin at 7:30 PM on Thursday, May 31st and second on Wednesday, June 6th at 7:3opm. We also recognize that not everyone can attend these meetings so we encourage you to share your thoughts and opinions with MLP Director Richard F. WONDERING: Where do you have cellphone coverage trouble in town, if so?
We lose phone coverage at the corner of Walnut Street and Hunting Street.
There is no cell phone coverage at the intersection of Brook Street and Rt. 135, and along the Rt. 135 corridor from the bottom of Brook into Needham, until past Olin College.
Junctions of Intervale Road and Riverdale Ave/Greenlawn Ave (and most of Ledyard) in Wellesley Hills (near Wellesley Farms stop) are totally dead.
