Wellesley High School students and Wellesley Middle School 8th graders, and their parents, have been asked to check out an FAQ and slideshow explaining reasons that the school system is considering moving from a weighted 5.0 grade point average system to an unweighted 4.0 system. Then, students and parents are urged to take a survey about the GPA system.
The FAQ assures parents/students that the shift won’t hurt students’ standing in college admission offices’ eyes, and notes that GPA is only one of a number of factors considered in students being accepted to colleges. WHS will also consider whether its valedictorian selection process will need to change if the GPA system changes.
