For the 3rd straight year, Lucy is the most popular name among registered dogs in Wellesley, with 37 sometimes responding to that name.

All 10 of the most popular names are the same as last year, albeit in a different order. Some 2,770 dogs were registered in Wellesley as of May 1, up from the 2,610 registered at this time last year (dog licenses must be renewed by each April 1).

Although the pup below has a pretty unusual name: “Bruin in the sky with Diamonds” (The litter was born on the Epiphany and the breeder requested the puppies to be named after stars, writes Leslie Hunter.).
