Mrs. Swellesley recently came across bags of Pure Gold Granola at Volante Farms in Needham, and snapped this accompanying photo.
It turns out the delicacy is made by Wellesley’s own Laurie Cochran, a self-described financial services industry refugee who lists herself as chief alchemist for Pure Gold Granola.
According to the company website, Pure Gold Granola is “hand-made in extremely small batches, and slow roasted to golden perfection.” Ingredients include fancy pecans, orange pumpkin seeds, pure Vermont maple syrup, natural sliced almonds, organic sunflower seeds, organic oats and “secret natural flavor & organic spices.”
Cochran says her love affair with granola started 15 years ago, when she decided to start making her own when looking for a healthy and filling breakfast option. Cochran says her granola recipe, in addition to being the key to Pure Gold Granola, helped her land her full-time job.
In addition to being available at Volante Farms, Pure Gold Granola is offered online starting at $39 for three 12-oz. bags. Dave Volante says Volante Farms has been selling the granola since its farmstand re-opened this spring: “It is popular, especially when [Cochran] samples it at the farmstand. Once people try it they generally buy it.”
