Wellesley Town Meeting members voted overwhelmingly on Wednesday night in favor of spending $4.16 million to buy the 8-acre St. James the Great property at 900 Worcester St. (Rte. 9 east) and clean up the area for new uses, though parishioners are still holding out on 1 more appeal to the Vatican. Plans are to use much of the space for recreational purposes, including a skating rink and swimming pool.
Town Meeting members also voted to approve use of $400K in supplementary community preservation funds to pay for dredging Morses Pond after the beach season ends.
