Twig, a Boston-based florist and “flower-centric gift store,” is opening a location next to Talbots in Wellesley Square on Central Street. It’s as if they knew our wedding anniversary was coming up!
Twig, known for its creative floral designs, has other locations in the South End, on Beacon Hill and in Westwood. The business was started in late 2005 by Lou Whitney, who previously ran a business called Doggie Boogie.
Twig offers flower arrangements, plus runs floral design workshops and does full-blown floral installations. What’s more, the Twig is a source for Recchuiti Chocolates from San Francisco, as well as of candles.
Twig’s arrival also means some fresh competition for Wellesley Square florists Posies and Winston Flowers.
Thanks to reader NC for passing along the info and photos.

Lou Whitney stiffed me for $400 for prints of floral radiographs he sold. Despite numerous calls, messages and visits to Twig, he closed up shop, stripped the store and left. Soon after, I found out that there is prior history of malfeasance.
