The Wellesley Natural Resources Commission on Saturday, Sept. 15, is organizing a meet and greet with a handful of goats who will be munching on invasive plants, such as oriential bittersweet and poison ivy, in the Boulder Brook area. The goats and their handlers will at the entrance to Boulder Brook Reservation, behind Bates Elementary School at 116 Elmwood Rd., from 10am-noon.
NRC is using goats as a pesticide- and herbicide-free way to rid Wellesley land of invasives.
Operation Goat Round 1 took place in May, as Wellesley attempted to restore woodlands butchered by an over-exuberant yard maintenance crew.
