Wellesley United Soccer Club has instituted a concussion policy to guide coaches, parents and players regarding soccer players who have been diagnosed with or are suspected of having a concussion. Among other things, coaches are being required to take a Centers for Disease Control training program and sit players involved in collisions suspected of possibly causing a concussion. Parents and players are encouraged to review the online training, too.
WUSC’s effort fits with the widespread increase in head injury awareness, which is resulting in some youth/school sports programs limiting head-to-head contact in practices.
