Wellesley gets ready to vote in November

October 3, 2012 by Bob Brown

From the Wellesley Town Clerk’s Office:

VOTER REGISTRATION

The deadline for new voter registration for the November 6, 2012 election is October 17, 2012. Residents who are new to Wellesley, who have moved within the town, or are unregistered should register by the deadline.

Voters who are unsure of their status may call the Town Clerk to check on registrations.

Voters who did not return a census in 2011 or 2012 will be listed as “inactive”. “Inactive” voters must show proof of continuous residency in Wellesley before voting. If you may be “inactive” due to the census requirement you may call the town clerk prior to October 17 to restore your status.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS

Voters who qualify for an absentee ballot may file a written request to have a ballot mailed to the desired address. A family member may apply on behalf of anyone in the household.

Ballots will be mailed beginning October 4, 2012. For anyone with an application on file the ballots should be received by October 9, 2012.

Absentee voters may also vote in person at the Clerk’s office 8am-5pm Monday through Friday.

Please note Massachusetts law does not allow absentee voting for convenience only. Voters must be physically unable to access the polling place or out of the district on election day.

If you have questions about absentee voting or voter registration please call 781-431-1019 ext 2252
