Lawns up and down Wellesley’s Colburn Road, the home of Brown Field, are displaying these signs urging drivers to take it easy (“Drive like your kids live here”). With the fall baseball season over for most, traffic should lessen significantly on that road for now.
We live on Oak Street, a cut through connecting Linden St. and Route 9. Many drivers zip through here, without much of a thought for the children and residents who have a difficult and semi-blind back-up out of their driveways. Give us a break. We need it, and it’s the least drivers can do for using our neighborhood for their travel needs.
Sad to say that the most careless drivers around town are the moms and dads rushing from one place to next!!! We live in Sprague neighborhood, among school, Sprague sport field, grocery store and LINX. As long as these parents have their own kids in the car, they don’t really care about other kids on the street!!!
I am so happy to see these signs and would love them (and more enforcement) in our Bates neighborhood. Vehicles – especially landscaping trucks/trailers – speed up and down side streets like they’re main roads, completely oblivious of both children and pedestrians. It’s a real problem.
