Len Schlesinger, the 12th president of Babson College in Wellesley, is stepping down at the end of this academic year after 5 years on the job.
In a letter to the Babson community, Schlesinger said he is proud of what the school has accomplished during his time there, including strengthening its finances, expanding its undergraduate student body and boosting applications from around the world. Next up for the school is “advancing our physical, fiscal and human resources by Babson’s Centennial in 2019,” according to Schlesinger, and he said that will take the commitment of a new president.
“What we have achieved has required virtually a 7/24/365 commitment to my role…a commitment I have relished. But it is now time to reorient much of my attention to those in my family who both deserve and require it,” he wrote.
Schlesinger came to Babson with a background of a business executive and educator, having served in the management ranks of companies such as Limited Brands and Au Bon Pain, and having taught at Harvard Business School.
