Takara in Wellesley now serving alcohol

TakaraWellesley earlier this year loosened its rules for restaurants seeking to serve alcohol even if they have less than 100 seats (they now need at least 50). Among the smaller businesses recently getting the go-ahead: Takara Japanese Restaurant at 151 Linden St.

Owner  Jacky Zheng says Takara now “has a selection of Japanese beer, Japanese cold sake, plus a selection of fine wines and cocktails.” Now that the restaurant has its license, there’s no more BYOB.

By the way, Takara features a $12.95 item on its sushi menu dubbed the “Wellesley”  — White tuna avocado roll topped with torched tuna, tobiko, scallions, crispy taro flakes and chef’s sesame sauce.
