UPDATE: According to the reader who notified us about this wire situation, things have been resolved nicely to start the new year. He wrote: “Verizon wanted to start the new year off on the right foot with the wire loop. They sent out a lineman New Year’s Eve at about 5pm to fix it. He came out to hang the wire loop back up, but he called into Verizon Network Engineering to get authorization to cut the wire off. He knew that the loop had been there since 2005 and that since it fell once it could fall again…. Our state rep Alice Peisch also applied some pressure to Verizon to get this matter resolved. Her office put a call into someone high up at Verizon on Monday morning – and that was a primary reason that Verizon had it taken care of yesterday.” (He added that WMLP making a call and The Swellesley Report posting about it didn’t hurt either….glad to help.)
A reader reports that a spool of Verizon telephone wires blew off of a pole on Morton Street near Washington Street on Sunday morning (Dec. 30). The WMLP sent someone out and called Verizon about noon on Sunday. As of Monday AM, the wires were still nestled on the street….FYI, in case anyone has any pull with Verizon.
