Have you heard the one about the Wellesley homeowners who paid ten times the going rate for their spring and fall landscape clean-up? New business owner Curtis Mueller of Wellesley Concierge has, and he “almost fell over” when he heard the number.
Apparently overpaying, in terms of money and time, moves from the yard, into the house, and straight out of the wallet, inspiring Mueller to start a business designed to help homeowners keep up with their home maintenance. For about $2,500 for the average house in town, Wellesley Concierge will do it all, twice a year, in just a few hours per visit. Instead of the homeowner dealing with multiple phone calls and multiple companies for heating/cooling system maintenance, plumbing problems, and outdated smoke detectors, to name a few to-dos, Mueller’s company will arrange it.
Twice a year, a swarm of contractors will descend, locust-like, on your home — only instead of sucking up precious resources (like your time), they will chew up those yearly maintenance chores. “Think of us as a home inspector that fixes things along the way,” says Mueller, whose background is in finance and real estate.
Oh. Not so much like locusts when he puts it that way.
