The Boston Globe crunches the numbers on property tax increases from 2007-2013 and finds that Wellesley, with its 36.11% hike over that period, is #3 among 20 eastern Massachusetts communities ranked (Essex and Manchester are #1 and 2, respectively).
The silver lining for Wellesley residents: property values are not just holding their own, but creeping up a bit, whereas homeowners in other communities are being hit with the double whammy of rising property taxes and falling property values.
Property taxes are increasing nearly $250 this year for owners of median single-family homes ($844K).
