The many empty shelves at the Village Market convenience store, which opened in 2009 at 9 Washington St., in Wellesley Lower Falls, might make you think another blizzard is on its way. But it’s actually the result of the shop being in transition as it changes hands from one owner to another.
Apparently the lottery ticket system was also out of commission for a bit, but that is back in action.
A reader who called our attention to the change at the store over the weekend wrote:
“Fear not! The guy at the register confirmed tonight they are not closing. The new owner starts next week and the shelves will be restocked and the license for the lottery has been switched over, so it’s already up & running. Phew! Here’s to hoping I got the lucky numbers for tonight’s drawing!” (We confirmed at the store that it is indeed changing owners.)
Meanwhile, we’re guessing this reader wasn’t a big lottery winner since we haven’t heard anything yet, but it wouldn’t be the first time that location sold a serious winning ticket: Someone snapped up a $100K winner there last year.
