The state’s Supreme Judicial Court has denied ex-Wellesley allergist Dirk Greineder’s latest bid for a new trial, which went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, and as a result he will remain in prison for the murder of his wife Mabel on Halloween 1999 at Morses Pond. (You can read the court opinion here by clicking on the words Slip Opinion on the left).
Greineder’s defense had argued that the previous trial was unfair because of an issue with one of the witnesses, but the SJC, as it did in 2010, did not accept the argument.
The Greineder case has been given some new life in recent months as well due to the publishing of a book about it called A Murder in Wellesley: The Inside Story of an Ivy-League Doctor’s Double Life, His Slain Wife, and the Trial That Gripped the Nation.
