Wellesley’s Sustainable Energy Committee and the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant are joining forces with National Grid to offer free energy audits they say could save Wellesley residents money by pointing out ways to improve energy use efficiency.
The group is hoping to attract at least 400 Wellesley homeowners to take part in its Power to $ave Energy Savings Program. To get started, residents can call 781.235.7600 or visit WellesleyPowerToSave.com.
(We happened to get a Mass Save energy audit last year. They gave us a bunch of CFL lightbulbs and a programmable thermostat, and tried to sell us some services. The visit was a mixed bag in our book, though we’ve heard from others who have made out quite well, getting great deals, for instance, on attic or wall insulation. Guess it depends on who shows up at your house… but this is a different program than the one to be offered in Wellesley.)
The Wellesley program includes:
- a no-cost, customized home energy assessment including recommended actions and payback estimates
- Scheduling at your convenience with extended hours available
- List of participating weatherization contractors available
- Rebates, incentives, no cost equipment and tax credits may be available
