Wellesley Police Chief Terry Cunningham officially has a new second-in-command: 30-year department veteran Jack Pilecki has been named as the force’s fourth-ever deputy chief. Pilecki got the official go-ahead at Monday night’s Board of Selectmen meeting.
Deputy Chief Pilecki has served a number of roles during his career on the Wellesley force, including as a patrolman, court prosecutor, sergeant and most recently, as a lieutenant commanding the patrol division.
Pilecki has also been instrumental in orchestrating the annual Officer Savage 5K road race, which this year takes place on May 5 at Babson College.
The former deputy chief, Willam Brooks, headed to Norwood last year to take on leadership of its police squad.
