A Wellesley police officer working a detail on Rte. 9 near Rte. 128 on Wednesday afternoon was hit while in his cruiser by a suspected drunk driver.
Both the police officer (who was not identified publicly) and the suspect were injured and taken to the hospital, but the officer has been released. The suspect, who has a sketchy driving record, will likely be charged with driving with a suspended license and operating under the influence, according to local news reports.
TV news teams raced to town, and here’s a report from NECN and another from WCVB.
