As we mentioned recently, the annual Wellesley Veterans’ Parade in May will have as its theme the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War. Given this, the town is seeking Korean War veterans to recognize at the parade. Here’s a letter from Wellesley Celebrations Committee Chairman Roy Switzler with more:
The 45th Annual Wellesley Veterans’ Parade will march forward on Sunday, May 19th at 1 PM, with this year’s theme being “The 60th Anniversary of the End of the Korean Conflict”.
The Wellesley Celebrations Committee (WCC) is seeking Korean War Veterans to be honored by us in this year’s Parade.
Anyone who served in any service of the United States, during the period of June 27, 1950 to January 31, 1955 is recognized as a Korean War Era Veteran.
If you did serve or know of anyone who served during that time period as a Korean War Veteran, we would ask that they contact us at 781-235-1299 or 781-431-1019 extension 2295, or e-mail at info @ wellesleyparade.org or rswitzler@aol.com , or by mail at The Wellesley Celebrations Committee c/o Wellesley Town Hall, 525 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA 02482.
We look forward to recognizing all who have served our country and ask that they join with us on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the starting point of the Parade, the junction of Routes 9 and 16 at the Wellesley Community Center.
Much more will be publicized in the coming months about the 45th Annual Wellesley Veterans’ Parade, which is “Dedicated to All Who Serve” and all of the activities of the 15th Annual Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend, both of which the WCC is hard at work planning for the weekend of Saturday and Sunday May 18th and 19th.
We look forward to honoring all those who were in service to our country during the Korean War Era.
Sincerely,
Roy Switzler, Chairman
Wellesley Celebrations Committee
