Here’s a look at ex-Wellesley High School baseball star and current Oakland Athletic Nate Freiman back when he was 8 years old, attending a baseball camp in town. Also seen, back in the day, familiar Wellesley faces Joe Roberts (of Terriers Sports) and Mike Dowling. (If you can’t view video here, here’s the link).
Freiman became a popular subject of sportswriters during spring training with the Houston Astros and then Oakland A’s, with whom he cracked the major league roster for the first time in his career, with most focused on his 6-foot 8-inch frame and his pro golfing wife. Freiman, a Rule 5 draft pick, must stay on the A’s roster or be sent back to the San Diego Padres, whose minor league teams he has played for in recent years.
