Wellesley College seniors decked out in their graduation gowns will take their colorfully decorated wooden hoops for a spin this Saturday morning at 9am as part of the school’s 118th annual hoop rolling race.
If you’ve never seen this spectacle, it’s worth a look. The beauty of it is that it’s over in a matter of minutes and ends with the winner getting dunked in Lake Waban.
Students (or their younger friends) sleep out over night to save spots along the front line of the 1/8 mile course, which starts at Tupelo Point (easy to get to from the parking garage along Rte. 135… just follow the boisterous gowned women with wooden hoops in their hands).
