From Wellesley Police Department:
Due to the ongoing manhunt in the Watertown area for the terrorist suspect, all activities at all schools in Wellesley are cancelled on Friday, April 19, 2013. This is merely a precaution.
The Wellesley Police Department has numerous police officers on the street protecting the town. With that in mind, please refrain from calling the Wellesley Police Department unless you have an emergency. We are not aware of road closures in other towns or communities due to the fluid nature of the manhunt. Travel has not been in banned in Wellesley, but clearly we are on the border of communities that have asked for people to stay indoors and off the roads. These communities include Newton, Watertown (no vehicle traffic at all) Belmont, the entire City of Boston, Waltham, and Cambridge.
All MBTA service, including the commuter rail service, is suspended at this time. There is no word on when the service will be restored. The MBTA and the Wellesley Police Department are instructing people to stay away from commuter train stations at this time.
Should there be a need to communicate with Wellesley residents in an emergency today, we will immediately send another alert, update our website, and use our Facebook and Twitter accounts to keep you informed.
