Hunnewell Elementary School, which used to offer its youngest students Spanish classes before budget cuts went into effect about 8 years ago, is piloting an after-school program to teach the language to its students.
The five-week Wednesday program follows a similar one offered at Schofield Elementary School, with instruction provided by Go Lingo, a non-profit language learning program that integrates art, music and movement into its curriculum. Unlike the Wellesley classes at Hunnewell back in the day, these aren’t free: The Wellesley program costs $112.50 and financial assistance can be arranged.
