A reader wrote recently to find out if we knew the latest on plans to build a pool on the 900 Worcester St. property where St. James the Great Church still sits. The brief answer we’ve heard is that the town, which has already agreed to buy the 8-acre property, is still waiting on the final St. James appeal to be dealt with by the Vatican.
The aquatic facilities subcommittee issued a survey to residents last fall and released findings at the start of this year, revealing that there is strong demand for a public pool in town.
Public/private partnerships have been explored as far as possible without actual ownership of the property by the town.
Check out Monday night’s Board of Selectmen meeting where an update on 900 Worcester St., is on the agenda.
