Wellesley animal control officer Sue Webb is asking residents to be on the lookout for a Russian Tortoise that has disappeared from its yard in the area of Willow Street, which is near Cedar St. Our first thought was that perhaps it had headed over to the Russian Math location on Washington Street.
In other animal news, Webb warns that it’s open season on cats in that Fisher and Coyote parents typically kick their teens out of the house around this time of year. “Between the fisher and the coyote they will take an easy meal if a cat is lounging outside,” she says. Webb has been finding cat remains in all sections of town.
Webb has also been capturing bats in homes and having the little flyers tested for rabies.
Meanwhile, we’ve heard reports and sightings of a ferret on the loose in South Natick this past week.
