Stumped by Wellesley tree slashings

A reader asked recently asked why the heck a bunch of trees were whacked on the Rte. 9 east ramp off of Rte. 16 in Wellesley Hills. We don’t have a complete answer here as to the reason for the bad haircut, but town officials say this was a state project, perhaps one that got derailed for a bit and will be completed sometime soon.
