It’s out with the foofoo French blue and in with the mean LAPD dark blue for the Wellesley Police Department, which is now sporting new uniforms and patches.
Chief Terry Cunningham and Deputy Chief Jack Pilecki, respectively the Calvin Klein and Pierre Cardin of the local police force, designed the shirts. WPD describes the shirts as being “specifically designed for the day to day rigors of law enforcement. They are comfortable, durable, and breathable for the officers wearing them.”
Another practical reason for the switch to dark blue is that other area police departments wear that color, so police departments can present a unified front when working together on incidents. Plus, those French blue shirts were so 1990s.
Project Runway, here they come.
(No word yet whether local criminals will also be updating their outfits.)
