Patti Bros., a lighting and furniture business, has revealed itself as the mystery company filling the space at 15 Central St., in Wellesley Square (though thanks to reader AP for the tip on this, based on a visit to Patti’s Sudbury location).
Patti Bros describes itself as a 3rd-generation business, started in 1935, that specializes in interior and exterior lighting. It also offers early American reproduction furniture. Word is that the business will keep its big 28-year-old Sudbury showroom intact but shutter its Beacon Hill location.
Co-owner Lisa Gilberto-Cunningham says she is Patti’s lighting designer and that her business partner Michael Patti is the grandson of the founder. “He makes beautiful custom lighting and does lighting restoration and repair,” she says.
As for the move to Wellesley, Gilberto-Cunningham says: “We have noticed an increase in our Wellesley client base over the past few years… In that we do lighting consulting and design it makes sense for us to be in the community. It was fortuitous that the space on Central Street opened up We will be able to better service the clientele by having a presence there.”
Look for Patti Bros to open in early October.
The space to the left of Patti Bros on Central Street will be occupied by Wellesley Holiday Boutique, which has popped up in recent years at temporary space in Wellesley Square.
