A 9am-5pm Wiffle ball tournament for kids ages 5-13 will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5 in Wellesley at Ollie Turner Park (which sits in between one end of Longfellow Pond and Rte. 9 East). Wellesley public schools are closed that day in observance of Rosh Hashanah.
This second annual event features a double-elimination bracket format to ensure all the kids get a solid amount of playing time on balanced teams. A home-run derby will be held at noon. Kids should wear plain T-shirts that can be decorated on the fly. A Green Monster scoreboard and Fenway-style foul poles will add to the atmosphere. Food and drinks will be sold and raffles will take place. Local businesses have donated food and prizes.
Money raised from the event will go to a foundation called Birthday Wishes that throws birthday parties for homeless kids.
You can register your kids for $25 here. Registration closes at 10pm on Aug. 31.
