The following message is from the Wellesley Health Department (which has been issuing phone alerts to residents as well).
The Wellesley Health Department reports that mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus have been found in Wellesley. The community is urged to be extra vigilant in the prevention of bites. Use insect repellent according to the recommended guidelines, remove standing water, and if possible, avoid outdoor activities between dusk and dawn.

The first 2 cases of Massachusetts residents with West Nile virus this year have been reported this month, with the 2nd case announced on Wednesday and involving a Norfolk County man. Last year, 33 cases were reported in the state.
West Nile virus-carrying mosquitoes have also been found in Needham this summer.
