The Memorial Garden, formerly located in the courtyard of the old Wellesley High School building, will be re-dedicated on Nov. 30, at 2pm. The site of this dedication will be the new Memorial Garden, which is just to the north of the new school building in a grassy space with benches and new plantings. All members of the school community and town itself are invited. There will be brief speeches and a cookies-and-cider reception.
WHS’s Landscape Committee wishes to ensure that all students, faculty, and staff who died during a school year while they were working at or attending the school are remembered. To that goal anybody suggesting a name or seeking information can contact Brooks Goddard at email <goddard@rcn.com> or at 781-444-5988. They can also contact Karen Archambault at WHS, 781-446-6290. The committee also wants to ensure that anybody commemorated at the former site is recognized.
The Memorial Garden is part of several landscape initiatives at the new school site, and those interested in volunteering time or expertise should contact Mr. Goddard or Marribeth Harrington, PTSO landscaping chair, at johnmeribeth@comcast.net.
