The Wellesley Cultural Council has set an Oct. 15 postmark deadline for organizations, schools and individuals to apply for $4,250 in grants to support community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs to be held held after Jan. 1, 2014.
According to Council Chairperson Arlene Schulz, these grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities in the town of Wellesley — including exhibits, performances, festivals, workshops, and lectures.
The Wellesley Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.
Last year, funded projects included: Heritage Chorale, Wellesley Community Art Project, Wellesley High School/Educational Theater Guild, Wellesley Choral Society, Wellesley Players, the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra and more.
