Wellesley schools prep for full-day kindergarten

UPDATE (10.11.13): The Globe reports, in a follow-up interview with Superintendent David Lussier, that an override will be needed to fund the changes.

Wellesley Public Schools are looking to shift to full-day kindergarten in the 2014-2015 school year, and are hosting a couple of parent forums this month to share info and get feedback.

WPS kindergarten currently operates on a hybrid schedule of full and half days up until April, switching to full days after that.

Shifting to full days year-round has been discussed in the past, but shelved due to cost, among other issues:

The Parent Forums are planned for:

Thursday, October 17 at 9 a.m. at the Sprague School Cafeteria (1st floor).

Monday, October 21 at 7 p.m. at the Wellesley High School Faculty Dining Room (1st floor – abuts the student cafeteria).
