The Wellesley Women Artisans have organized their first Art Walk, which will take place in conjunction with the downtown Holiday Stroll event on Sunday, Dec. 8 from noon to 6pm.
Artists will be exhibiting and selling their work in 10 Wellesley Square stores, and 20% of proceeds will go to the Wellesley Education Foundation in support of visual arts programming at Wellesley public schools. Most of the artists will be on hand to discuss their works, which should make for unique holiday gifts.
Crystalle Lacouture, director of the Art Walk, says the group’s mission is to support “a culture of culture” in Wellesley, which “really lags behind many neighboring towns who prioritize and promote Open Studios, Art weeks, Artist collectives and other town wide events that support artists and those working in creative fields. We strongly believe we need more of these arts awareness events in Wellesley.”
The Artisans group’s works have been seen in town in the past gussying up empty storefronts, and the group orchestrated creation of a giant weaving during Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend this past spring.
